Glitter was glittering at the Miss Teen Universe SA 2023


The Miss Teen Universe South Africa and Miss Pre – teen Universe South Africa crowning took

place on the 12th of March 2023 at Sun International’s star venue, at a glittering pageant finale

which was held at Izulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino and entertainment Kingdom in KwaZulu

Natal, Durban.

There were two categories, Miss Teen and Miss Pre-Teen, in each category there were 5

winners as follows Miss Teen Universe South Africa, Miss Teen Mundial South Africa, Miss

Teen International South Africa, Miss Teen Globe South Africa, Miss Teen Charm South Africa.

Each winner will be representing South Africa in these big 5 International pageants abroad.

A radient Malwandla Sithole and Manqoba Vilakazi from Johannesburg and Kimberly, was

crowned Miss Teen Universe South Africa and Miss Pre- Teen Universe South Africa,

respectively.

All the Miss Teen and Miss Pre-Teen winners were crowned with the exclusive crowns,

designed by Ricardo Patraca, a crown and jewellery designer in Mexico, and crows were

shipped to the country a week before the event.

For the first time in the history of the Miss Teen Universe South Africa that 10 queens will

represent the country at the world's most prestigious teen pageants, that is 5 teens and 5

preteens.

Previously, the Miss Teen Universe South Africa Organisation sent a representative to

Miss Teen Universe based in the USA, Miss Teen Mundial in El Salvador, Miss Teen International

in Cambodia, Miss Teen Globe International in Paraguay, and Miss Teen Charm in Colombia,

but they will also be fielding pre-teen candidates for the 5 world's best pre-teen pageants.


The Director of the Miss Teen Universe South Africa Organisation, Ntombi Gumede shared how excited the pre-teens are now going to be given an opportunity to shine on global stages.


"We are delighted that the pre-teens, your 10, 11, and 12-year-olds will now be able to shine on

the international stages, representing the country at the world’s five most prestigious pre-

teen pageants, I am very excited about them, ” she explained.

The first Miss Teen Universe South Africa competition began in 2019.



“We have been extremely impressed by the transformation the brand has undergone in the past

years and we are looking forward to building a better tomorrow for the youth of South Africa.

This pageant is unique because we are not just for beauty but mainly for charity, education

and humanitarian efforts,” Ntombi added.


The South African Redcross Society CEO gave a speech on behalf of his organisation on the

night and He officially announced the partnership of Miss Teen Universe South Africa with

The South African Redcross Society, and every year the Miss Teen Universe South Africa

winners will serve as goodwill ambassadors for Redcross to contribute positively to challenges

facing the youth in South Africa.


Emotions were high at the venue when the former Miss Teen Universe South Africa queens

that participated internationally were honoured with National Honorary South African

Green Blazers as a symbol of Success and international participation, the recipients were:


Ntando Ggudla, who participated in Miss Teen Universe 2021, held in Miami, Theane Willemse, who participated in Miss Teen Universe 2022, held in Miami USA, Tumi Jiane, who

participated in Miss Teen Mundial in 2022, held in El Salvador, and Mieke Van Der Merwe,

who participated in Miss Teen International 2021, held in India. The event choreography was done by the young Zenande and Resty Agberero from Philippines and the judging panel comprises some of the country’s most respected and influential personalities including actor and TV personality Diepcity actress Mrs Noni Mbete, Miss Heritage Global South Africa Zabelo Hlabisa, Founder of Mr Mpumalanga Mr Billy Brown, Former Miss South Africa and Miss Supranational 2022, Miss Lalela Mswane.


For the third time in a row, two of South Africa’s best-loved young television personalities –

Langa Jiane (17) who plays Mbuso on SABC Uzalo and Katlego Ncala (22) SABC Yo TV presenter

were the hosts for this year’s dazzling Miss Teen Universe South Africa Crowning event. on

the pink carpet, it was Ntokozo from Vuma FM as well as “The Bomb RSA” one of the top

TickTock influencers.

Miss teen Universe South Africa started a process of recruiting new entrants for 2024 through live auditions in all provinces, the first auditions will be in Gauteng province, on the 1st of March 2023 at the Maslow hotel in Sandton, they have also bagged a sponsorship from one of South Africa's finest hotels, Hotel Sky as they hosted esteemed media and winner and runner ups of this year's Miss Teen universe and Pre- Teen universe SA this past weekend at Hotel Sky in Sandton, Johannesburg.
