Up-and-coming afrobeat star, Chinemerem Nkwazema known as Memmuchi is a Finnish- Nigerian young girl whose passion for music brought her to Mzansi in hopes that it'll open doors for her music career.
The 18-year-old star hosted a private listening session last week Thursday, 23 March 2023 at Michelangelo Towers, Sandton, where members of the media had a chance to listen to some of her songs which will be released soon.
Memmuchi also mentioned that she came to Johannesburg in search of greener pastures, and hoped to make a breakthrough like other artists that she looks up to.
During the listening session, the star unpacked her journey candidly, detailing how she became a star as from a tender age, her family and loved ones knew that she had a fair chance of flourishing in the entertainment industry but encouraged her to prioritise her studies.
Memmuchi who recently completed high school is gearing up to release her first EP.
The Afrobeat talent shared her reasons as to why she decided to come to South Africa.
"When Burna Boy came here, that is when he took off. So I know that the scene here is really booming.
"I am inspired by my personal experiences—love, life, everything. If I see a pretty bird outside, I'll write a song about it," she said.
Her biggest highlight since she introduced herself to the music scene is the interest shown by other artists to collaborate with her.
Memmuchi recently released her lead single, Money and Power, and is currently in South Africa shooting her music video.
