Pastor Numba creates his own fellowship to revive the true sounds of Worship

By Mbali Tebele

Pastor Mthunzi Namba has left the gospel group Joyous Celebration to start his own gospel fellowship called The Fellowship with Mthunzi.

The Fellowship is the brain child of Pastor Mthunzi Namba. It was formally established in 2021, when Pastor Namba sought out for talented worship leaders faithfully serving in their local churches.

Speaking to Daily Entertainment News, Pastor Namba shared that starting his own fellowship was him responding to a calling that was put in him to revive the pure sounds of worship.

“The fellowship was a concept that has been in my heart for a long time, and I was responding to a calling that was put in me to provide a platform to come together to praise and worship the almighty,” he said.

Pastor Mthunzi said that his fellowship is about growing as a movement, restoring and bringing revival to pure worship.

“We don’t remake songs that are already there, we are unique to others because we write our songs from scratch and produce them ourselves, when I started this movement I did it with my two daughters, Asanda and Owethu.

“In our fellowship we are not zooming on famous people, we are taking in talented people who always wanted to sing and praise the one above with their melodic voices, and our musical director and producer is my son in law Sabu Satsha who was Joyous Celebration’s drummer,” he said.

Pastor also mentioned that their goal they are hoping to achieve is reviving what has been lost in worship and the gospel industry.

The fellowship has released its first single last month called “Oh For Grace” which talks about how God’s promises are always true.

“Looking back over the world's events in the past 3 years, the hard times affecting our nation and families, I was inspired to write a song to encourage anyone who hears it to be reminded of God's promises. Regardless of the shaking we may encounter, may we be grounded on and established in the truth of God's Word as an anchor for our souls.

“ 'Oh for Grace' is therefore about reminding people that God's promises are true and encouraging them to take God at His word, believing that whatever He has said and promised for us as His people will happen. 'Ahadi zake kweli' is Swahili and it means God's promises are true,” he said.

The fellowship will also release their full album alongside a dvd which they recorded live at Bryanston.
